Undetectable or negative?

  • I have HSV2, last test wife did not. Possible she does not? Or more undetectable? Can someone explain how the undetectable means?

But, in reality you should discuss this with your wife. Acknowledge that yes it sucks at first, but it will get better over time and that really it is a minor skin condition that happens to be on your genitalia. If you stay together, she will probably get it eventually. Though with precautions, the timeframe of transmission could be longer than most relationships last anyways.

Undetectable don’t mean shit with herpes. That is a term for HIV which is actually completely non transmissible at undetectable levels using consistent medications. Herpes is not at that point. While valtrex, condoms, and not having sex during outbreak or prodromal symptoms (look prodromal up, it is important) help reduce transmission, nothing is 100 percent. Valtrex can significantly reduce transmission but only at high doses that are well above the maintenance doses to reduce outbreaks. Anyways, probably the real answer to your question is that blood tests take quite awhile, potentially, from infection util the antibodies are detectable by tests. Direct swabs of lesions will give more rapid identification. Most people develop symptoms in a few days, a few are asymptotic forever but can still transmit.
